About the Exhibition

“People Art“ acknowledges the themes, subject matter, collaborators and audience that become involved with Scott’s creative work. The gallery show pieces represent a range of art media - drawing, painting, digital creations and ceramics. The common thematic thread between all of these works is the celebration of people. That may range from a promotional poster for a concert and the musicians performing in it to ceramic pots that were created as demonstrations while working with a group of students in a pottery class.

The pieces on display were made over a span of 20 years, with a majority of the works created over the Pandemic and the interesting times since the world reopened. Some of the work is observational, some of it purely creative, some depicting friends and family while others tie in with popular culture. Scott’s hope with this show is to provide a pleasing variety of his brand of visual art for people to take in.

About Scott Bell

Born and raised in Morden, Scott feels privileged to share his artwork with residents, friends and visitors to the Pembina Hills Arts Centre in the heart of downtown Morden. An active artist and art teacher in Southern Manitoba, Scott has worked in various art fields and teaching roles over the past three decades. During that time, he has been a huge influence to the local community that is Pembina Valley.

The focus of his artwork is capturing human moments, be they solitary or intimate, or depicting groups in a setting of public spectacle. The challenge to portray people as he sees them and hopefully captures some essence of what he appreciates about them is what drives Scott’s work.
