Pottery Studio Time

Throw on your own terms!

Come in to create at your own pace. Use our wheels to bring your clay visions to life. You can come in anytime except during classes, please check the schedule at the studio.

Monthly rate - $75.00 - What’s included:

  • Calendar Month (from the 1st of the month to the end)

  • Use of Wheels and Hand building Area

  • Use of glazes

  • One shelf of Storage for in-process pieces

  • One Shelf of Storage for your supplies in the studio

Guidelines for Pottery Studio:

  • Leave the pottery studio as you found it 

  • Clean wheels, unplug and put foot pedals up 

  • Wet mop the floors 

  • Pail, mop and all supplies must be put in proper storage areas after every use 

  • Wipe wedging tables of excess clay after use 

  • Do not block access to the sink 

  • Clean tools and place back in designated area 

  • No clay is to be thrown away; place unusable/leftover clay in the clay bucket at recycling station 

  • Recycle clay; Any clay you recycle is yours; please label clay in progress with post it notes provided  

  • Personal items (tools, glaze etc.) Must be labeled; participants must ask permission to use another participant’s belongings  

  • Pottery studio may not be used during PHAC programs/events that are using the pottery studio 

  • Calendar will be posted for the current month on the bulletin board – it is up to you to know when studio is available.  

  • Access codes must never be shared or given out 

  • If others are needing a code, they must contact the PHAC staff 

  • There will be a $50 penalty if rules are not followed 

Guidelines for kiln/firing: 

  • Must use proper glaze techniques 

  • Wipe excess glaze and wax bottom 

  • If you are unsure about glazing, please contact PHAC staff to schedule assistance 

  • Pottery must be labeled with your symbol/initials or it will not be fired 

  • Please add your name and symbol to the symbol record sheet 

  • Clearly indicate pottery that is ready to be fired in the kiln by placing in the designated shelf 

  • Pieces that are not carefully made and well-trimmed will not be considered for firing 

  • Pieces meeting firing criteria will be at the discretion of the kiln technician
